Byronic Hero拜伦式英雄:The hero I personally worship and admire although he seems unrealistic in life. The protagonists created by Byron who always make their presence with the characteristics of superiority in passion and privilege, nobility in blood, groom in mood. He was indulgent in the private sorrow, the awesome silence yet indeed full of volcanic passion for his insisted affection. Apparently they led a lustful and morally corrupted life, actually, they concealed their cynicism and despair and the contempt for the social injustice by the means of hedonism. It’s a type of paradoxical figure, who often arouses the love-and-hatred feeling of readers. Rochester is indisputably claimed as the classical representative of Byronic Hero. His powerful affection for Jane Eyre and struggle to get rid of the social prejudice, the stubbornness to recover the mistake made at the spur of reckless impulse builds up the image of solitary aristocratic fighter and conqueror. :em221::em221:As the famous critic sums up in the following sentence: Byronic heroes are associated with destructive passions, sometimes selfish brooding or indulgence in personal pains, alienation from their communities, persistent loneliness, intense introspection, and fiery rebellion. Maybe in this sense, I am identical with Byronic Heroine in some aspects. :em21:Jane Eyre is the type of Byronic Heroine, we are used to burying the furious passion in the deep inside but what makes a difference is Jane Eyre attains the blissful happiness with Rochester at last and she is elevated to the rebellious and self-asserted feminist and her personal charms could withhold the trial of time and pain and torture. What a Legend!:em212:
